Fantastic Finds
For me the best thing about Metal Detecting is digging the History. Wondering who was the person that lost this item
? & What were they doing when they lost it ? On one of my coolest hunts I had found a spent 69 caliber musketball at 8
inches near a creek. Just a few feet from it I got another hit that read like a Quarter at 8 inches. I dug it and recovered
a nice 1796 Liberty Cap Large Cent, one of only a little of over 109,000 minted ! My quess is that 200 years ago someone may
have shot a deer near the creek and while he was cleaing it, lost this cent. No way of knowing for sure but I think it could
have happened. Please note that on some of the pictures below " scratches " are really on plastic that the coins are incased
in. All items on this page were recovered on Private Property with the owner's permission. Happy Hunting, Bob
